What is Embodied Leadership?

“Why should people follow leaders?”

The essence of Embodied Leadership is the art and science of cultivating ourselves as leaders to have a compelling and authentic presence to move people towards a shared future and common goals. This means:

  • Having clarity on the deep purpose of our work and leadership - and aligning our practices & actions with this purpose

  • Understanding our personal leadership journeys

  • Building capacity to listen with presence

Practicing embodied leadership help leaders to expand their leadership capacity, deepen their leadership maturity, and create more impact.

What is Somatic Awareness & Practices?

How is this different from other Leadership Frameworks & Tools?

Most leadership frameworks and tools use the top-down approach, where it focuses on logic and reason of a theory. The intention is to shape a person’s thinking and emotional responses in a rational way.

Somatic Awareness and Practices use the bottom-up approach, where we access to the mind-body integration and understand how our unconscious and conscious stories that we receive & tell ourselves impact the way we lead and influence others.

We are shaped by different experiences & sources, and this influences the stories we receive and tell ourselves - which may not embody the values we believe in.

Our identity as a leader and human is linked to these experiences & sources, and is linked to our thoughts, feelings and stresses when there is conflict - whether it is in a work situation where someone is not meeting the required standards, or a perceived threat to our beliefs & values. 

Practicing somatic awareness and practices invites the person to get curious on the body sensations and know what these sensations are trying to say and uncover ways that the leader can build the capacity for change and growth - and lead others with compelling presence.
